Where to Eat... |
Breakfast |
The Omelette Parlor on Fillmore is not an upscale fancy decor, but it sure does have great breakfasts. They have many different variites enough for everyone. |
Lunch |
Try the Ritz Grill downtown, it's been a local favorite for many years. If you're into philly sandwiches, try Taste of Philly at Carefree and Academy, they are the best in town, great for a picnic in a nearby park. |
Dinner |
The best steak would be at MacKenzies Chop House downtown. If you want trendy try the Blue Star, they even have several private rooms for larger tables and a great wine cellar. |
What to Do... |
Morning |
The sunrises at Garden of the Gods are hard to beat. But for a different twist, rent some horses from the trading post and see the city garden on horseback. If it's misty or has horefrost one morning, don't miss the treelined walks at downtown Memorial Park around the lake. |
Afternoon |
If you like history and mineral water. Try walking in Manitou, an artsy stroll, and collecting the underground spring water from more than a dozen city springs throughout downtown, they all taste different. Then head to North Cheyenne Canyon for a look at Helen Hunt falls or the private seven falls nearby. If you want nice stroll or fabulous sunday brunch, visit the five star Broadmoor hotel. |
Evening |
There are plenty of clubs downtown, most have music on fri/sat nights. I prefer the live jazz at the Fine Art Center on Thurs/fri/sat. and the food at the Cafe 36 next door is expensive but very well put together with delicate wonderful flavors. Try viewing the latest exhibit while you're there and don't miss the Chihuly glass sculptured lights. After dinner, drive to the overlook point in the Palmer Park and view the very nice and romantic city lights. |

Comments |
It's a beautiful city that you don't see just driving by on the interstate. There are around 150 parks in the city, the crime is low and in the summer the hikes and Pikes Peak, and trails are wonderful. And if you want art galleries, and shopping visit the newer malls or the Old Colorado City areas. If you like Italian, don't miss Biaggi's at the Briargate Shoppes. |
